Gosh, I forgot to give you the recap! x(( Stupid me! Last night's performances focused on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I thought David Cook would blow this thing away in a flick of a finger.
Here are the results of this night's performances:
- David Cook:
- 1st Performance (Hungry Like a Wolf) - not as brilliant as what he did to Always Be My Baby, this was just an okay performance. Good vocals, but he came quite just average. Randy says it's good enough to make through the night. I think so too, I guess he was a bit shocked that he came first before the others. First performances, even though done many times, can still incite sudden nervousness. David had the stage, his vocals are good but this wasn't the performance that worked for the Top 4 Rock and Roll night.
- 2nd Performance (Baba O’Riley) - he regained his above-average performance as his vocals were awesome but the overall is just a good one for him to get through. He'd have to tinker with the arrangements again to make everything work great for him. And Simon Cowell knows he couldn't afford to lose, without giving his another yet best shot.
I hope he doesn't get eliminated tonight. I would never settle for that performance of his. He has to really give it all if he wants to win this thing. ;) Even if Simon added, "Welcome back David". :)
- Syesha Mercado:
- 1st Performance (Proud Mary) - Randy loved the change (she finally got confident to perform on-stage like she's a whole new Syesha); Paula absolutely complimented her transition, and how improved she has been from her past performances; Simon didn't like Proud Mary at all - all those dance moves of her were set aside. In my perception, what Cowell commented on Syesha is that this performance of hers is not the absolute shot he was hoping for. But at least Syesha moved her hips way better than the last ones I've seen. Go dance steps!
- 2nd Performance (A Change is Gonna Come) - In this rendition, Syesha went for a slow song; she said it has a deep meaning that's why she chose the song. I think she referred the meaning to the Civil Rights Movement. Yet Randy did not appreciate this performance and told her it wasn't working for her and that "having fun" onstage isn't enough for the Top 4 expectation and said he loved the 1st one better. This made Syesha burst into tears. Paula Abdul, however, praised her bravery for picking the said choice but in the fairness of judgment, it is just an okay performance not the performance that would typically blow away the judges minds.
- Jason Castro:
- 1st Performance (I Shot the Sheriff) - A Bob Marley song, the judges didn't see the Jason that they have seen in the auditions. Randy said it didn't work for him, Paula gave a comfort comment and said he was struggling with the song, Simon did NOT like it AT ALL. He even said that it was the most ridiculous performances in the Top 4. Too harsh yet true in my opinion, I wish Jason would experiment on what works best on him and change his image even just a bit just like what David Cook did. Therefore as an ending advice, Simon told him to definitely not do Bob Marley songs for a while.
- 2nd Performance (Mr. Tambourine Man) - I don't know with this performance, I loved the tune of the song but not Jason's Castro's performance last night. Totally forgettable, why? I forgot the tune of the song!
- David Archuleta:
- 1st Performance (Stand By Me) - This song worked for Little David as evident in the judges' comments. His voice suited the melody of the song but he has to quit performing like an amateur as a follow-up to Simon's last week comment to him calling his performance "amateurish".
- 2nd Performance (Love Me Tender) - An Elvis Presley song that totally rocked the socks of the night! I love how he sang Love Me Tender and the passion of his every lyrics was totally swooning the fans! Randy said it was the best performance so far; Paula Abdul praised him dearly saying that David has made it again, calling his performance her most favorite; Simon said David didn't beat the competition, he crushed it!
In my observation what happened was that the contestants took bad , if not bad then failing, risks of singing a good song but performing it unwell. Most of them were confident they could sing it as great as they foresee it, but it wasn't enough for the judges. They have to make the song work for them.
For example Jason Castro did nothing with the arrangements which disappointed Simon Cowell truly. Syesha's first performance got a better approval of the 2 judges but Simon, and then picked a slow song that did not complement her first choice Proud Mary. David Cook had a good performance but not as great as what he did in the past. He's really awesome but the judges looked for something fresh again to surprise them. David Archuleta, so far had the most spectacular performance of the night acing the two songs he chose to sing.

Haha, c'mon. Ignore me. I really like David Cook to keep me infatuated and inspired. Let me have this good butterfly-in-the-stomach feeling! LOL. Obviously, I don't want to miss this post without having his picture here! xD
I would really like to wish him good luck personally but alas, I am a thousand miles away from him (aba, mag-senti daw ba?). I'm praying that he still stays in the game. I know he's a lot for a potential. Sayang naman kasi kung sa Top 4 pa siya mawawala. Parang si Chris Daughtry lang last season. Sana hindi ma-LUTO si David Cook. Hehe. :]
** but I really am nervous for him @ this point. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for later's judgment. Will update you soon guys. COOKies unite! ♥ ♥ ♥
